Derek Jones
Derek is a principal and consulting actuary with the New York office of Milliman. He joined the firm in 1991.
Experience
Derek’s experience includes due diligence for mergers and acquisitions, financial modeling, funding level estimation for self-insurance groups, loss reserving, ratemaking, reinsurance, and risk-based capital projections. His recent work has focused on medical professional liability, surety, and workers’ compensation, for which he has performed rate analyses, reserve reviews, and limited claim reviews. Derek has also performed analyses of asbestos and pollution liabilities for both insurers and reinsurers.
The clients he serves include insurance and reinsurance companies, captive insurers and self-insurance groups, and legislative and regulatory bodies.
Derek is a regular speaker at national actuarial seminars on loss reserving and other educational seminars. He also has authored the following papers:
